Treatment Philosophy

As a therapist, I work with my clients in a compassionate and collaborative effort to promote resiliency and self-determination. I believe in building a strong rapport with my clients so that each client feels comfortable working through their greatest concerns. I strive to empower clients throughout their journey, whether they are new to therapy or continuing to grow their strengths to reach their full unique potential.

Much of my focus is on how an individual’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact and how increased self-awareness and thought restructuring can be used to create a sustainable behavior change. However, I also believe in using an integrative approach to therapy, which allows me to adjust my interventions and treatment goals to specifically meet the needs of each client.

  • I work primarily with adolescents, young adults and adults and am very passionate about working with athletes, in both performance enhancement and injury recovery. I have experience in treating anxiety, depression, life transition concerns, stress management, relationship issues, self esteem issues, work/life balance issues, sports performance concerns, and injury recovery/rehabilitation.

I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, but typically focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered modalities. I tend to meet the client where they are at and work with them to see which approaches align with their presenting concerns.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, including my twin sister who works as a sports physical therapist. I also enjoy playing competitive ultimate frisbee in the summer and love traveling to new areas of the world.

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) & Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). This certification allows me to specialize in mental skills training in both sport and human performance.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I then received a dual-master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling (MA) and Sport and Human Performance (MS) from Adler University. I have previous experience working in outpatient mental health clinics and have spent extensive time working with individual athletes on various sports performance concerns. I have worked with many teen athletes in a variety of sports on developing tools to support their mental health both on and off the field. I am continuing to expand my skills in working with athletes on the mental side of injury recovery and tend to apply techniques from sport psychology and mindfulness in therapy.
